Click for more details:

I run workshops for those who have a keen interest in mark-making, mixed media and exploring the expressive qualities of painting. Participants experiment using a range of varied materials and methods, combining marks and media together through layering. Further consideration of ideas, intentions and consideration of structure and composition, helped to expand an individuals' approach.

Places are limited to encourage one to one support and advice.

Suitable for all levels.

I enjoyed the course enormously.  Your teaching skills and enthusiasm second to none, I now really feel able to enhance my artistic practice. It’s really great when you feel you’ve learnt a lot. Thank you for sharing your lovely art works especially your sketch books.

I loved your workshop.  Landscape artists are all attempting to express how they feel about being outdoors in a particular landscape. In abstract landscape painting we attempt this through patches of colour and a few lines. What I loved about your workshop was that you took us through your process. You showed us a practical way to abstract the landscape. In talking with other people on your workshop this seemed to be a feeling shared by most of us. We all appreciated your demonstrations and shared thoughts about how you use collage to abstract landscape - to progress from the rough sketches/gathered impressions to finished pieces. It was this practical process of abstraction that was most useful. Everyone on your workshop now has a way of abstracting from nature. They have all been shown that abstraction is a skill that can be learned and not some magical talent only available to a blessed few. Obviously, practice and hard work is essential but at least we now know a way of abstracting landscape.

You were there to come to our aid whenever we asked but you had that ability to know when to leave alone and when to give help, support and attention, to move us forward as individuals. I can highly recommend your courses.
Thank you for a great workshop! I thought it was a well structured course.’You will take away enthusiasm, knowledge and exciting ideas for future work.
Thank you for a great course, I’m going to work on some large canvasses this week whilst the ideas are still fresh in my mind. I’m excited by your work and approach to painting so can’t wait to get going.

Really enjoyed the workshop and learning your process. It has given me a lot of insight and ideas for the future.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to you for the workshop ,I thought it was great and suited me perfectly and I can’t say that I would have wanted anything any different.

”I can’t recommend this workshop highly enough. Hazels teaching style is so relaxed but very efficient and engrossing. She is so generous explaining any aspect of her own practice, as a group and one to one. I came away so enthused and equipped with new ideas and techniques to develop.”
